Dr.Ganeshakrishnan Iyer is a well-known cardiothoracic and vascular surgeon with over 25 years of experience. He specializes in complex open heart surgeries that include Mitral Valve Repair, Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery, and Aortic Aneurysm, Aortic Valve Sparing Procedure and surgery for Atrial Fibrillation. He has performed more than 12,000 procedures in his lifetime, and has been continually involved in complex adult and paediatric heart surgeries.

Dr. Iyer joined Aster CMI in 2011 as a Consultant in the Department of Cardiothoracic and Vascular Surgery. He is a highly accomplished and well-respected cardiovascular surgeon with an impressive track record in the medical field. He has a vast knowledge of both basic and advanced surgical techniques, which have made him one of our most experienced consultants in the department. He worked as a chief surgeon at several hospitals before joining Aster, and has extensive experience in both teaching medical students and providing care to emergency patients.

He completed his medical training at Grant Medical College where he received his Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery (MBBS) and earned his Master of Surgery (M.S) in General Surgery. After completing his residency, he completed a fellowship in cardiothoracic and vascular surgery at Seth GS Medical College and KEM Hospital University. He has further undergone a fellowship in adult and paediatric cardiovascular surgery, including thoracic organ transplantation in the USA and Canada. He also spent a few years on the staff at the Karolinska University in Stockholm.
